Spring Break?! or rather Break from Spring...

What a crazy lot of weather we've been having. We think that this time of year might be better titled, "Break from Spring" not Spring Break.
It's getting ridiculous. We awakened AGAIN this morning to snow. More snow. Enough with the snow! But, alas, we don't get to choose. But we do get to choose what to DO in this crazy weather so we headed up to the cabin for some fun.

Tyler is a big fan of the backpack. Thank goodness that he was strong enough because Mom forgot the frontpack! It was a fun game to smile and attack Mom's hair as you can see. You can also see the other crazies in the backround horsing around on the slush bank beside our road. Fun times!

Nothing like a lot of fresh air to brighten the spirit.

The cabin is an amazing retreat- be it sun or snow- so we just made the best of the break from spring back towards winter... for awhile. We know in 9 months or so we'll be longing for this white stuff again. There are benefits to the turn of the seasons- we just aren't fans of seeing them turned backwards. Tyler doesn't seem to mind.
Special snuggle time with Daddy always brings a smile. 15 weeks and cuter by the day. We can't get enough of this sweet boy's smile... and now chuckle. It's amazing.

What better activity to encourage spring than dyeing Easter Eggs? We know we're a bit early, but with all the craziness of moving we thought we'd spend the time to create our masterpieces early on. And that gives us more time to enjoy eating them before we're sick of eggs, eggs, eggs.

The kits have gotten cheaper... or perhaps it's just me. The $1 special at Target only has 3 dye tablets. I remember at least 6 or something. You have the fun of mixing colors, but the palate just isn't quite the same. And once an itsy drop of blue escapes into the yellow- well the green is as good as it gets! However, said cheap pack did come with a "Magic" crayon that you see William using with great care and magic. The words seem invisible until dunked in those amazing THREE colors.

Voila!! The gorgeous eggs. Minus a couple of cracked ones! Bring out the salt and pepper and bring on the sun. We are ready for this Break from Spring to end... but are looking forward to the week away from school.

And one more thing broke!

Will's tooth on the loose. #2 Lost at the lake. That poor, dear fairy has a tired pair of wings after fluttering ALL the way to Priest Lake a few days after William lost his first tooth. SHE deserves a break!

Happy spring. I'm hoping for that magic to work on the weather ANY day now!

Feels like Home...

Did you ever come to a place and instantly recognize it as your ‘Ultima Thule,’ the one spot in all God’s world where you belonged- where your roots could go deep into the soil which would forever nourish you, where inspiration and spiritual blessing welled up from the earth to the top of the tallest Tamarack, spread to the encasing bowl of sky, return on every waterway to feed you everlastingly? Such a spot, so it seemed to me, was Priest Lake. ~ Nell Shipman, 1924
