Sweet William was given a number- shoot, all the kids got numbers, but his happened to belong to Olivia M. in his class. In order to keep track of how far the kids run there are lap-counters on the inside of this ridiculously tiny race track. They keep track of how many times the kids run in this ridiculously tiny circle. And for Will and Ben they count A LOT. But there's room for human error. Such as right number of laps for the wrong kid! So there was a bit of a surprise when "Olivia" won for the girls when, in fact, she was gone on vacation. And Will, WILL, bless his little heart sat on the grass and took a big quivering breath when his buddy Liam was announced as the winner. Ms. Patty quickly grabbed Will's hand and walked to the back of the stage to explain the number mix-up and the fact that Olivia was not at school and Will really ran with her number. Phew. Crisis averted.
So they made Another Announcement that there were 2 other all-day Kindergarten winners. Will and Aliana. And that was a proud Moment. The part where William held it together when something he had wanted so badly and literally dreamed about didn't materialize as he thought... that was a proud Moment as well. Even Prouder for his Mom.
And there was more than one winner for the 3rd grade boys as well. Although Ben finished a bit ahead of his buddy Samuel, fair is fair. So tie it was. Ben was happy to share his win with his friend. Tremendous effort boys.
