A Year!! Tyler turns one!

A Cow says "Mooo"
A Sheep says, "Baa"Three singing Pigs say, "La La La"EVERYone in the Merritt home knows this Sandra Boynton book by heart and can recite it on demand. That's the benefit of being familiar with "the classics" in literature. Tried and true. You know them. You love them. It's funny how one kid chooses "Goodnight Moon" and another "Are You My Mother?" Tyler's fave hands down is Moo Baa LaLaLa.

And so... with the theme parties being majorly important to Mom. We went with it. The invites were darn cute if I were to toot my own horn. Mini "Moo Baa LaLaLa" books with the time and place for the farm party. Darling actually. And we decided on a brunch for the family with a cake, of course.

When planning a theme party I tend to get really excited but stay on budget and the farm that Tyler Loves the most happens to be the Fisher Price Family Farm that yours truly grew up playing with. The barn doors don't quite make the same cow noise when you open them and there's a cow missing a leg, and the tractor has some serious bite-marks on it, but again... destined to be a classic. The perfect inspiration for our one-year-old!

Tyler was not, however, a huge fan of the party attire (hats) but he tolerated it for awhile, and surprisingly not a huge fan of the cake either... hmmm? we'll work on that!

But the boy loves to dance! So we started off the day rocking around the Christmas tree! To the real song (another fave!) How fun to have a holiday baby. [Although December 12 was Hanukah this year!] We celebrated in our "same old fashioned way" as they sing in the song.

Grandpa Rich, Nana, Papa and the cousins came with Auntie Jamie, Jayme, Sunnie and Uncle R.J. It was so much fun to have Dad's brown sugar bacon, eggs, strawberries, the works! And some pressies to open.

It's so fun turning one!!! We love you Tyler! And can't believe what a blessing you've been in our lives this past year. Here's to Many Many more.
Feels like Home...
Did you ever come to a place and instantly recognize it as your ‘Ultima Thule,’ the one spot in all God’s world where you belonged- where your roots could go deep into the soil which would forever nourish you, where inspiration and spiritual blessing welled up from the earth to the top of the tallest Tamarack, spread to the encasing bowl of sky, return on every waterway to feed you everlastingly? Such a spot, so it seemed to me, was Priest Lake. ~ Nell Shipman, 1924
